Matteo Bruno Lunelli Cavaliere del Lavoro

Gruppo Lunelli CEO is among the twenty-five nominees of 2024

Matteo Bruno Lunelli has been awarded with the prestigious honour of Cavaliere del Lavoro (Knight of Labour) by the President of the Republic, a recognition conferred every year on just twenty-five entrepreneurs, men and women, who have distinguished themselves for their significant contribution to the promotion of the national economy and for their high ethical and social commitment, aimed at improving the country’s living and working conditions.

Matteo Lunelli is CEO of Gruppo Lunelli, which brings together some of the most representative brands of Italian drinking excellence. These include Ferrari Trento, renowned for its Trentodoc sparkling wine, of which Lunelli is Chairman and CEO, Surgiva, a mineral water that flows from the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, of which he is Chairman, as well as Bisol1542, the flagship brand of Prosecco Superiore di Valdobbiadene, and Tassoni, famous for its iconic citron liqueur. Gruppo Lunelli also includes the Segnana distillery and Tenute Lunelli that produce still wines in Trentino, Tuscany and Umbria, all companies with a long tradition and a strong bond with the territory. Matteo Lunelli has always promoted the Italian identity and excellence of each brand, guiding them towards a path of environmental and social sustainability. Under his leadership, the Group has almost trebled its turnover in the last 10 years and has embarked on a significant path of managerialisation and internationalisation.

“Receiving this prestigious award is a source of great pride for me, that I wish to share with all those who work and have worked with me,” says Matteo Lunelli. “At the same time, it confirms mine and my family’s commitment, together with all the women and men of Gruppo Lunelli, to work in harmony with the environment and in tune with the territory, maintaining the values of excellence and innovation in the wake of tradition. I am convinced that a company should not only create value for its shareholders, but also generate well-being, safety and beauty for its employees and for the community that hosts it, putting people at the center. This recognition will be a further spur to continue working with passion to promote the Italian lifestyle in the world. A special thought goes out to my father Giorgio for the values and example he gave me, and a thank you to my uncle Gino Lunelli who passed on his entrepreneurial spirit to me”.

Commitment to promoting the excellence of Made in Italy has always characterised Matteo Lunelli’s activities inside and outside the group, so much so that in January 2020 he was appointed President of Altagamma, the foundation that brings together companies from various sectors of the high cultural and creative industry with the aim of creating synergies between major Italian brands, fostering their growth and competitiveness and thus contributing to the country’s development.

Fifty years old, Matteo Lunelli is married to Valentina and has two children. After graduating in Economics from Bocconi University, he worked for five years in an international financial consulting team for the American investment bank Goldman Sachs, in Zurich, New York and London. In 2003 he started working in the family business and in 2011 he received the baton at the helm of the group from his uncle Gino Lunelli, already a Cavaliere del Lavoro since 1987.

Ferrari Trento promotes a culture of drinking responsibly which is part of the Italian Art of Living.

It is a culture linked to the ritual nature of food and the celebration of convivial occasions, in which consumption is moderate and informed.
